MLK Day of Service

MLK Day of Service with the Notre Dame Mission Volunteers in Atlanta, GA, January 15th, 2024.

This year on Martin Luther King Jr. day we honored the legacy of a man whose voice changed the narrative of a nation and whose dream continues to inspire generations. AmeriCorps programs across the country celebrated that day by participating in service projects.

The Notre Dame Mission Volunteers AmeriCorps members in Atlanta worked together with The West Atlanta Watershed Alliance to prepare some ground for a garden in a local neighborhood. The group was filled with volunteers of all ages who are keeping MLK's dream alive by living it.

NDMVA Members in Apoka, Florida participated in a parade alongside the Hope CommUnity Center. NDMVA members in Boston, MA partnered with Boston Cares and made fidget toys and bracelets for local youth. NDMVA members in Watsonville, CA worked together with Farm Discovery at Live Earth to work on matience and improvements to their educational stations at the farm. (See photos below.)

Those are just a few examples of service projects that our members participated in across the country!

Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Everybody can be great because everybody can serve."
