A Little About Catherine…
Best at: Listening. I love getting to know other people, and why they are the person they are. I believe in meeting people where they are.. One way to do that is to listen, wholeheartedly.
Worst at: Being an objective food critic–I eat basically anything that’s put in front of me. French toast and raspberry jam and cream cheese is one of my favorites.
Passionate about: Surfing. I like how the water engulfs you–you’re weightless. It’s adrenaline-giving, humbling, and challenging simultaneously; you’re totally out of control. You have to deal with what you're given and do your best to deal with what's in front of you. When I get really stressed out, I imagine diving underwater. All my surroundings are gone, and I become one with the water. Just the thought of surfing brings me peace.
What’s your “why”? I wanted to give back to the program that gave me so much. In my two years of service with NDMV, I was able to move to a brand new place and had the freedom to explore. I got to see how K-12 education works, I served at a food pantry, tabled events, and met a whole lot of wonderful and caring people in the community.
Favorite Hallmark: We create community among those with whom we work and with those we serve.
The Hallmarks by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur are the essential characteristics, values, and activities of the NDMVA learning community. They are common principles that we share within both organizations. They recently refreshed their hallmarks! Click here to read the updated Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Hallmarks.
