Hope Partnership for Education (HPE) is an independent middle school and adult education center serving the Eastern North Philadelphia neighborhood. HPE is based on the nationally recognized Nativity Network model which offers extended day and extended year schooling for middle school students grades 5-8 thus maximizing the academic, physical, social and spiritual potential of each student. The Adult Education program helps to enhance the family and neighborhood involvement in the learning process by offering GED, basic literacy, computer and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. Members at Hope Partnership assist classroom teachers, teach enrichment classes, tutor and assist individuals and small groups, and supervise students in classes, halls, the cafeteria, gym, and on field trips.

Drexel Neumann Academy

Drexel Neumann Academy is located in the city of Chester, PA, a previously successful industrial city, which is now impoverished. The student population is currently 85% African American, 10% Caucasian, and 5% other ethnic groups. 90% of the students qualify for the free lunch program. The NDA members will provide the extra attention the students need to succeed academically by encouraging reading for enjoyment and being part of the “peer mediation program”. They will also tutor students individually and in small groups, assist teachers with classroom activities, participate in conflict resolution activities, and assist with the after school program. The member will also encourage parents to be involved in the children’s education.
