Philly feeds itself with more than just cheese steaks. Deceptively delicious food carts litter the city along with a diverse population of restaurants and eateries. KIPP Philadelphia Charter School (grades 5-8)
KIPP DuBois Charter Academy (grades 9-11 in 2012-13)
KIPP public charter schools focus on the academic success of the student while developing integrity and building strong and healthy ties to the community. NDA members serve as Academic Support Interns, working with students in classrooms and during after-school enrichment programs to provide additional learning support to those who require it.
Catholic Social Services/Archdiocese of Philadelphia
Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is the largest private social service agency in Pennsylvania, and has incredible width and depth to the services and outreaches they perform. The NDA members serve in a variety of education-based positions depending on the needs of the sites as well as the interests and skill sets of the members. Members currently work with youth in the juvenile justice systen, teen mothers, and adults with disabilities. While there are many differences between CSS sites, they all focus on meeting individuals where they are in life and providing support and guidance to help them grow.
Out of School Time (OST)
Several CSS positions are with the OST program, which provides after-school enrichment programs for elementary and middle schools under the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Members serve as Group Supervisors developing curriculum and executing project-based learning, tutoring, and recreation.

St. James School
Saint Marks' Episcopal Church in Center City Philadelphia opened St. James School in North Philadelphia in 2011 with a class of fifth graders and will continue to add a grade each year until it reaches grades 5-8. This NativityMiguel middle school partners with their families and the neighborhood and wider Philadelphia community to develop the whole child in a "total care" approach to education. Members serving at this school will lead small group instruction, provide individual academic assistance, coach, and offer general guidance to the students through an instructional assistant position.

US Dream Academy
The US Dream Academy is an after-school mentoring and enrichment program that targets populations of students with high risk for incarceration. The US Dream Academy works to supplement the school day by offering tutoring, extra curricular activities, and providing a safe environment for students to interact with one another. This program is focused on building skills, character, and dreams in order to alter students' attitudes, building self esteem, and stimulating growth.
The NDA member assists the Education Specialist in implementing the prescribed curriculum of Successmaker and Individualized Tailored Instructions (ITI) as needed, provides academic support for students completing their homework, engages students in other values-based learning within the US Dream Academy curriculum. The member also assists in hosting the Center’s outreach events to engage parents and guardians of Dream Academy students, and will also work to connect Dream Academy families with available community resources as needed.
