Member Information
Notre Dame-AmeriCorps members work to empower the economically disadvantaged and oppressed through education and personal hands-on support. Our members tutor children and adults (literacy, GED, and ESL), organize after-school enrichment activities, model and teach conflict resolution/parental effectiveness, and involve community professionals in the learning process.
Since 1995, Notre Dame-AmeriCorps has grown from 6 to over 300 full-time members. Our members are placed at individual sites across the country, but are also part of a team of members living and working in the same area. These teams gather regularly for training and community-building.
We seek to build community among our members, as well as the people with whom we work. Currently, our members come from all over the United States and from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our multicultural, ecumenical group is bound together by the common ideals of service, educational empowerment, community-building, and a desire to translate spiritual values into action.
